ATM Being Hacked Just By Sending A SMS

We already know that Microsoft’s support for  windows XP has been ended on 8th April of this year , apparently 95% of the world’s 3 million ATM machines are runnnig on it. Microsoft’s decision to withdraw support for Windows XP poses critical security threat to the economic infrastructure worldwide.
Security researchers at Antivirus firm Symantec claimed that hackers can exploit a weakness in Windows XP based ATMs, that allow them to withdraw cash simply by sending an SMS to compromised ATMs.

What was interesting about this variant of Ploutus was that it allowed cybercriminals to simply send an SMS to the compromised ATM, then walk up and collect the dispensed cash. It may seem incredible, but this technique is being used in a number of places across the world at this time. researchers said.waploft

According to researchers – In 2013, they detected a malware named Backdoor. Ploutus, installed on ATMs in Mexico, which is designed to rob a certain type of standalone ATM with just the text messages.
To install the malware into ATMs machines, hacker must connect the ATM to a mobile phone via USB tethering and then to initiate a shared Internet connection, which then can be used to send specific SMS commands to the phone attached or hardwired inside the ATM.

Since the phone is connected to the ATM through the USB port, the phone also draws power from the connection, which charges the phone battery. As a result, the phone will remain powered up indefinitely.

How it is Possible ?
  • Connect a mobile phone to the machine with a USB cable and install Ploutus Malware.
  • The attacker sends two SMS messages to the mobile phone inside the AT
SMS 1 contains a valid activation ID to activate the malware.
SMS 2 contains a valid dispense command to get the money out.
  • Mobile attached inside the ATM detects valid incoming SMS messages and forwards them to the ATM as a TCP or UDP packet.
  • Network packet monitor (NPM) module coded in the malware receives the TCP/UDP packet and if it contains a valid command, it will execute Ploutus
  • Amount for Cash withdrawal is pre-configured inside the malware
  • Finally, the hacker can collect cash from the hacked ATM machine.
  • Researchers have detected few more advanced variants of this malware, some attempts to steal customer card and PIN data, while others attempt man-in-the-middle attacks.
  • This malware is now spreading to other countries, so you are recommended to pay extra attention and remain cautious while using an ATM.

The Windows 10 Technical Preview Will Be Available For Download Tomorrow

At its San Francisco event, Microsoft announced that the technical preview of Windows 10 will touch down tomorrow.waploft
The company’s new operating system is a long-awaited replacement for its beleaguered Windows 8.x platform. That version of Windows saw limited business adoption, and consumer fatigue.
On stage, Microsoft executive Terry Myerson stated that Windows has 1.5 billion users. Myerson indicated that Windows is at a “threshold,’ ironically
The ‘Insider Program” is designed to let people get the new code, but with the expectation that they new stuff will be a bit off, here and there. New code is new code, after all. Myerson indicated that the new code is an attempt to “share more than ever before.” The goal, he said, is to build something for every Microsoft customer.
Windows 10 is the name for the “product family,” according to the company.
The full operating system will be available after Build in 2015, or, put another way, mid of next year.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Review

Today's major media event saw the unveiling of two new iPhones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Along with larger screens and a completely new iPad-style design with an ultra thin body and rounded corners, the two new phones offer faster processors, better cameras, and NFC integration with Apple's new ApplePay payment system.waploft
While both models include the same 64-bit A8 chip and the same general design, there are several differences between the two phones. The iPhone 6 measures in at 6.9mm, while the iPhone 6 Plus is slightly thicker at 7.1mm. Apple's iPhone 6 Plus also has three major differentiating factors: optical image stabilization for the camera, and a longer battery life, and an iPad-style landscape modethat displays more content on the screen.freshmaza

Design

Though the iPhone 6 Plus has optical image stabilization, both phones got some major camera improvements in form of sensor upgrades, improved tone mapping, better noise reduction, and new "Focus Pixel" technology, which improves the phone's ability to select autofocus points. For videos, there's a new 240fps slo-mo option, along with support for shooting in 1080p at 30 and 60fps. The front-facing camera was also upgraded, with an f/2.2 aperture that lets in more light and new burst mode capabilities.
Both phones have an impressive new "Retina HD Display," with the iPhone 6 featuring a resolution of1334 x 750 (326 ppi) and the iPhone 6 Plus featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (401 ppi).
Design wise, the phones more closely resemble the iPad and the iPod touch than the iPhone 5s. Both models have soft, rounded corners and a curved glass screen that melds smoothly into the thin metal body of the device. The volume buttons on the left side of the device are now pill-shaped, and the power button is located on the right side of the device for easier one-handed use.
To further make its devices easier to use one-handed, Apple has added in a new double tap home button gesture called "Reachability," which moves items from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen for quick access.
Other new features in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus include WiFi calling support, faster 802.11ac WiFi, and support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE)

Measuring in at 4.7 and 5.5-inches, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 plus dwarf previous iPhone models, but at the same time, the two phones are Apple's thinnest yet, measuring in at 6.9 and 7.1mm, respectively. For comparison's sake, the iPhone 5s was 7.6mm thick.
According to Apple, the thinner profile was made possible by the company's "thinnest display yet," which is made of slightly curved glass designed to flow seamlessly into the body of the device to highlight the "Retina HD" screen of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
iphone6design
Both devices include prominent antenna bands on the back enclosure, along with a protruding rear lens. The volume buttons are pill-shaped, much like the buttons on the iPad Air, and the power button has been relocated to the right side of the device.

RETINA HD DISPLAY

iPhone 6 rumors largely suggested Apple would use a sapphire display cover in the device, but that turned out to be false. Instead, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus use "ion-strengthened" glass with an improved polarizer (for better outdoor viewing) and a photo aligned IPS liquid crystal display.
insideretinahddisplay
The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display with a "2x" resolution of 1334 x 740 (326 ppi) while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch "3x" resolution of 1920 x 1080 (401 ppi). Both phones are said to offer higher contrast, better brightness, and improved white balance.
Apple has implemented several "Reachability" features to improve the viewing experience on its larger devices, including Display Zoom and landscape view (iPhone 6 Plus only). Display Zoom lets users zoom in to get a closer view at their apps, while standard zoom displays more content on the screen.
Landscape view on the iPhone 6 Plus is designed to make the most of the 5.5-inch screen and to help users be more productive. When in landscape mode, the device will display apps like Mail, Calendar, and Stocks in a wider view similar to the way they're displayed on the iPad.
reachability

BATTERY LIFE

The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus both offer improved battery life, but due to the larger size of iPhone 6 Plus, it is able to accommodate a larger battery. While the capacities of the two batteries are unknown, previous rumors pointed towards 1,810 mAh capacity for the iPhone 6 and a 2,915 mAh capacity for the iPhone 6 Plus.webmusic
Because it has a bigger battery, the iPhone 6 Plus has a longer battery life than the smaller iPhone 6. 3G talk time for the iPhone 6 Plus is at 24 hours, compared to just 14 hours in the iPhone 6, for example, while HD video playback is at 14 hours for the iPhone 6 Plus and 11 hours for the iPhone 6.

The new iPhones are described as "easy to grip" and "feels like an iPhone" despite its larger size. Overall the new models are said to not feel as big as expected when they are in-hand.

Release Date and Pricing

The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch screen. Compared to a thickness of 7.6 mm of iPhone 5S, the sixth generation has a thickness of 6.9 mm (iPhone 6) and 7.1 mm (iPhone 6 Plus), respectively. (Freshmaza)

"These iPhones obviously have bigger displays, but more importantly, they're amazing products in every single way," Cook said.

The devices feature Apple-designed A8 chips, which have 25 per cent faster processing power and upto 50 per cent faster graphics. The handsets feature 8MP iSight camera and support Voice over LTE. The iPhone 6 also has an improved face detection for selfies and group selfies.

Body design is slim and handy, phone doesn't feel bulky while carrying around. At a budget of Rs 6000 this phone does make a place in the market, moreover Micromax growing popularity complemented it. A69 comes with android 4.2.2 version and market doesn't expect it android update. Phone has 5mp rear camera with flash and front camera which offer a great image quality under good light. But we didn't liked caputred images under low light as pictures are dark and dull but in an open place it work's really good. Camera ia capable of recording 720p HD videos. The biggest drawback of this phone would be 512mb RAM multi tasking seems to hangup a little due to short RAM. A69 is a dual sim 3G compatible on both sim's was a nice experience. Phone is backed with a 1800 mah battery performing decently. Internal memory is 4GB and external memory can be expanded upto 32 GB with a micro SD card.
Conclusion
Micromax A69 is a good well performing smart phone at low budget price range. If low RAM is not an issue it is a must buy gadget.

School going students hacked into ATM

A couple of 14-year-old computer
whizzes have the Bank of Montreal upgrading its
security after the teens hacked an ATM machine.
Freshmaza

Matthew Hewlett and Caleb Turon, both Grade 9
students, found an old ATM operators manual
online that showed how to get into the machine's
operator mode.
On Wednesday over their lunch hour, they went to
the BMO's ATM at the Safeway on Grant Avenue
to see if they could get into the system.
"We thought it would be fun to try it, but we were
not expecting it to work," Hewlett said. "When it
did, it asked for a password."
Hewlett and Turon were even more shocked when
their first random guess at the six-digit password
worked. They used a common default password.
The boys then immediately went to the BMO
Charleswood Centre branch on Grant Avenue to
notify them.
When they told staff about a security problem
with an ATM, they assumed one of their PIN
numbers had been stolen, Hewlett said.
"I said, 'No, no, no. We hacked your ATM. We got
into the operator mode'," Hewlett said. "He said
that wasn't really possible and we don't have any
proof that we did it.
"I asked them, 'Is it alright for us to get proof?'
"He said, 'Yeah, sure, but you'll never be able to
get anything out of it.'
"So we both went back to the ATM and I got into
the operator mode again. Then I started printing
off documentation like how much money is
currently in the machine, how many withdrawals
have happened that day, how much it's made off
surcharges.
"Then I found a way to change the surcharge
amount, so I changed the surcharge amount to
one cent."
As further proof, Hewlett playfully changed the
ATM's greeting from "Welcome to the BMO ATM"
to "Go away. This ATM has been hacked."
They returned to BMO with six printed
documents. This time, staff took them seriously.
"They brought the branch manager out to talk to
us," he said. "He was quite concerned and said
he would have to contact head security."
Hewlett and Turon had a concern of their own --
they were late for school. So Turon asked for a
note on BMO letterhead explaining their tardiness.
His request was granted by the bank's financial
services co-ordinator.
"Please excuse Mr. Caleb Turon and Matthew
Hewlett for being late during their lunch hour due
to assisting BMO with security," the note began.
Not surprisingly, the note raised eyebrows when it
was presented at the school.
"The secretary read it over and asked, 'What kind
of security were you assisting them with?'"
Hewlett said.
In an e-mail statement Friday, Ralph Marranca,
BMO's director of media relations, said they were
aware of the incident and have taken steps to
block unauthorized access.
"Customer information and accounts and the
contents of the ATM were never at risk and are
secure," he said.
Matthew's father, Brad Hewlett, said he and his
wife are proud of their son's remarkable skills, but
sometimes they have to act as his moral
compass. Matthew has endured serious health
issues since an early age and had a double liver
transplant three years ago, but it hasn't slowed
him down, Brad said.
"He's self-taught and into more than just
computers -- it's physics and chemistry,
everything," he said.
"He presented at the University of Manitoba last
year for a program that he wrote that sort of goes
down the path for artificial intelligence. The first
two people judging didn't have a clue what he
was talking about. The third was a software
engineer and the question she kept asking was,
'Did you get any help with this?'
"And he sure didn't get it from me."

Intel Revealed its Devil's Canyon Processor

The Devil is here!! Intel unveils Devil’s Canyon, its first 4GHz CPU, plus a 20th-anniversary Pentium processor.

Freshmaza

Intel unveiled the all-new Core i7-4790K and Core i5-4690K processors at Computex. Intel VP Lisa Graff said Devil’s Canyon was developed on a very fast track, starting in December, 2013. “We

gave our engineering team a target,” Graff said,“we wanted a part that could run at 4GHz on all
four cores. But we also put a lot of restrictions on them: ‘You can’t change the cooling solution, you
can’t change the socket, and it has to work with our existing chipsets.’”
The Core i7-4790K is notable for its ability to run all four of its cores at a base clock frequency of 4.0GHz. Other Intel CPUs have been able to reach this frequency on one or several cores for brief periods (a burst mode Intel identifies as “Turbo Frequency”), but this new part will run that fast consistently and boast a turbo frequency up to 4.4GHz.webmusic
While both Devil’s Canyon parts are quad-core
CPUs, the Core i7 variant supports eight execution threads, where the Core i5 model supports only four.
Consumers will be able to buy the new CPUs with or without Intel’s own heatsink and fan, but I predict most DIYers will favor third-party
cooling solutions from the likes of Corsair, Zelman, NZXT, and others.
Intel expects the new Core i7 part to sell for $339 and the Core i5 for $242 (that’s for quantities of 1000
without a heatsink and fan).

Twitter #hashtag on indian govt. Official's nameplate

All got surprised after seeing twitter hastag on a government official's nameplate.

Freshmaza

Deputy Secretary #digital diplomacy, as the nameplate reads, is a post held by Dr Sumit Seth, an officer of the Indian Foreign Service.
When one twitter user observed, "Never dreamt would c a # on official nameplate in a GOI office # (sic)," ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin sportingly replied, "We always move with the times".

When asked if the hashtag post will soon have its own Twitter handle, Mr Akbaruddin said for now, the twitter handle of # Indian Diplomacy would serve just fine.
This is not the first time the ministry is trying to "move with the times". Last year, it had become the first Indian ministry to launch a smartphone app that helped users access information on passport norms, foreign policy initiatives and Indian consulates, among others.waploft

Had a Break-Up ?? This is how to move on.

Had a break-up long back but still not able to get over your ex? Are his/her memories and the pain of breaking-up disturbing your present? Want to get over him/her fast, but unable to do so? We've got you covered, so take a breather!

Freshmaza

Had a Break-Up ?? This is how to move on.

Everyone has their own way of getting over their ex, but these seven ways will make the process of getting over an ex easier.

1 Sever all social and social media ties with the person in order to fully move on. One of the best ways is to avoid following him/her on social networking sites, keeping tab on him/her, his/her posts and photos. Avoid everything concerning your ex and pretend as if he/she never existed! How? Here's how - avoid talking about him with your common friends.

2 Just tell yourself that it's not your fault. Have faith on yourself that you had given your best to make that relationship work, but if it didn't go it's not your fault. There's no such thing as 'I wasn't good enough for him/her'. Period.

3 Avoid drunken communication, at all costs! If you have memorized his number (which is more likely than not), you should give your phone to your friend every time you get drunk or are high and not really in the best of senses. You will have to learn this the hard way, but trust us, it's better than regretting the next morning.

4 Make yourself believe that your worth is not tied to another person, no matter who they are. You are special in your own way and you deserve a person who values you for what you truly are.

5 Sometimes you can't stay friends and that's completely OK. According to Anna Breslaw, anyone who can stay friends with their ex is either Dalai Lama or didn't really love them that much. So its fine if you can't stay friends with your ex.

6 Turn your break-up emotions into something positive, like working out and losing the 5-kgs you always wanted to, excelling at work and getting that promotion, cleaning your home, rather than drinking or smoking too much and feeling sorry for yourself! This will better you in the long run, for sure.
7 It didn't work because it wasn't right and this is the most important lesson. It will help you move on and find a partner who is right for you. Just tell yourself: it didn't work despite my efforts, probably because it wasn't meant to be. And you'll feel lighter and better. Remember: you are meant for a person who is far better than your ex.waploft

If you like this post, please share this among your friends so that they also can help themselves moving on their Ex.

Big-ticket announcements include "widgets," TouchID for third-party apps, a brand-new keyboard that learns as you go, and software for home automation. Conference-goers get the iOS 8 beta today, with everyone else can get their fingers on the new software in the fall.
Before we get into those details, let's get one thing on the table: iOS 8 doesn't undergo changes to its visual design. Last year's major overhaul with its flat icons stays, and iOS 8 focuses heavily on building out software enhancements across the board.

What's this about widgets?

Widgets were a major iOS rumor, but don't go imagining that they look and act as enlarged home screen icons a la Android --they don't. Instead, think of them as enhancements to the notification center by letting you respond and reply from events, even from the lock screen. Beyond replying to messages, you'll also be able to interact with eBay bids, for instance. iPad users get this, plus a tab view for the iPad and a sidebar for handy-dandy access.
Here's a little navigational gem: in addition to seeing the apps you've recently used, double-tapping the home button gives you quick access to the people you've spoken to most recently. A few gestures can initiate conversations with them.

Mozilla Firefox to offer free Calling

Soon, in Firefox Nightly, you will see Mozilla's first experiments in creating a WebRTC-powered communications feature that aims to connect everyone with a WebRTC-enabled browser. And that’s all you will need. No plug-ins, no downloads. If you have a browser, a camera and a mic,
you’ll be able to make audio and
video calls to anyone else with
an enabled browser.
Firefox has partnership with tokobox to provide audio, video communication browser to browser.
TokBox is a PaaS ( Platform as a Service) company that provides hosted infrastructure, APIs and tools required to deliver enterprise-grade WebRTC capabilities. It does so
primarily through its proprietary OpenTok video platform for commercial application.
“Their early support and contributions to WebRTC are helping this emerging standard establish a foothold and earn developer attention,” said Chad Weiner, Director of Product

Gadget lets you create your own 3D-printing filament

The Stooder is a desktop machine that melts down plastic pellets so that you can create -- or recycle -- your own filament for 3D printing.
3D printing has such a wide range of applications, and it's certainly becoming more accessible, but there's one thing it has in common with its inkjet sibling: print material ain't exactly cheap. So wouldn't it be great if you could make your own?(waploft)
There are solutions out there for the home use, but they are few and far between, like Reprap's instructions for building your own, or the Filabot, which costs at least $649 for an assemble-your-own kit. Enter Strooder -- a much more affordable option.
Created by a team in the UK called OmniDynamics, the Strooder is able to convert cheap plastic pellets into PLA and ABS filament for your 3D printer. In fact, the team is working on support for other kinds of household plastics -- meaning that you could even melt down, say, plastic bottles. As the device currently stands, you could use it to recycle your failed print jobs (so long as you cut it into chunks that can fit into the feed hole).
It works in a very simple fashion. Plastic pieces are poured into the hopper, which has a capacity of about a litre. The hopper feeds the plastic into the machine. Inside, a heating element will melt the plastic, and a simple screw conveyer mechanism smooths it out into an even filament, which is extruded from the machine in one of three different thickness gauges, where it cools and hardens.

The potential benefits are fantastic. You can mix pellets for your own custom colours, and even mix various types of plastic for different degrees of hardness. And, to take the hard work out of chopping up your own plastic, the team is also working on a grinder that you could simply pop your pieces into on one end and get pellets out the other.
And the team has worked hard to make sure anyone can use it.
"The overall aim for Strooder was to create a high performing product, that also has a design which fits in a multitude of environments, ranging from workshops, to home offices, and even schools. A key difference of Strooder in comparison to other filament extruders, apart from its stunning looks, is its user friendliness," OmniDynamics wrote.
"Strooder has a 2.4-inch colour touch display preloaded with all the relevant extrusion settings for ABS and PLA plastic. This enables even the most novice of users to extrude to their hearts content! For the more experienced user, all of these preloaded settings can be edited, and there is also a manual setting for extruding with non-preloaded materials."

Woman Gets $50 Fine for Facebook Comment

In an ideal world, people would instinctively get your Facebook comments. Second best, your words would at least be interpreted in the manner in which you wrote them.
One woman, however, must have been aghast after she posted on the private Facebook group of the Whalon Lake Dog Park in Bolingbrook, Ill., and was then served a citation carrying a $50 fine by the Will County Forest Preserve District.
As the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday, her post was scarcely the stuff of controversy: "I was feeling bad that I haven't bought a pass and been bringing Ginger there but I'm pretty glad I haven't. So not going to worry about it until later. I hope all the doggies get better soon."
The dog park had been enduring a bout of kennel cough. While the comment might have been read as a message of sympathy, a forest preserve district employee saw the comment and sent it to a boss. Before hiss came to bark, the woman was issued a citation on May 20 for knowingly using a dog park without a valid 2014 permit.
It doesn't appear that any questions were asked of the woman first. Instead, authority smacked her wrist and told her not to be a naughty girl.
The only slight kink was, after receiving the citation, the woman said that she hasn't actually been to the dog park since 2013, according to the Tribune. One might argue that her phrasing had been imperfect. But to reward her with a $50 fine for a Facebook comment without even hearing her side seems a touch officious.

The fine and citation have now been rescinded, said the report. However, the Forest Preserve District's Executive Director Marcy DeMauro told the Tribune: "We treat any information like that as a tip and that has to be verified before any action is taken on our part. We would go to the dog park to see if that individual is actually there and using the dog park without a permit."
Somehow, though, a enthusiast in uniform seems to have obviated such practicalities and simply issued a sanction.
Somewhere in our heads, we know that everything we post on Facebook carries with it the potential of public exposure and complete misinterpretation -- never mind the potential of envy, scorn, trolling, rebuttal, and mocking.
But when the forces of law decide that its interpretation is fact, there's a rum spectacle in the making.
So next time you decide to post: "I could strangle half of Congress for their arrogance," please be prepared to call your
